Northern California native, Anthony Jay Vanetti is a naturally gifted and hardworking individual who has made many sacrifices in pursuit of his dream of reaching the pinnacle of the chosen sport – NHRA PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE RACING.
Like many other racers, Vanetti began his motopssports career as an eleven year old riding old counsins dirt bikes and 4 wheelers on his parents 5 acres before and after school and anytime in between the Junior Rodeos where Anthony enjoyed riding calves and later steers. At the age of 15, Vanetti entered his first motocross race. By the end of ‘06, he had found the Winners Circle over 30 times.
During his years a Prudhomme’s, Vanetti pursued his dreams of racing motorcycles at the professional level. After attending Frank Hawley & George Bryve’s Pro Stock Motorcycle School in Gainseville, FL at the conclusions of the ‘03 championship season, the passion to race grew even stronger. By the end of the ;04 season, Anthony earned his Pro license from Crew Chief and mentor Gary Tonglet, piloting his PSM to a then stunning 7.26 second run @ 182 MPH. while cutting a nearly perfect .0006 reaction time – all this on this first ever ¼ mile pass on the real pro stock. His efforts and sharpness on the bike opened the door for him to race that same Suzuki at 10 AMA Pro-star events between ‘05-’07. Although Anthony never made it to te Winners Circle, He piled up an impressive average of a semi-final finish at these events. This grabbe factory teams attention.. In ‘07, Vanetti was one of four riders in the country to be asked to audition for the vacant seat of the most prestigious ride in motorcycle drag racing – The Vance & Hines factory backed Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle team. 2010 Vanetti retired from drag racing as a mechanic on a top fuel car as well as racing motorcycles. He joined Lucas Oil Products in Corona, CA, and the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series as the Event Brand Manager and Track Official. Having to take a break from pursuing racing two-wheels was difficult but riding and competing in both local bull riding events and driving a limited buggy in the companies Regional Series kept his competitive edge fulfilled.
2014 Anthony is called back to duty to be the cylinder head mechanic on the Morgan Lucas Top Fuel dragster. The agreement was made, as long as he could once again pursue that life-long dream. That Vanetti is doing. Between a late summer stint of winning Brainerd, MN, and finding themselves in the semis at others races, Anthony found time to late Auguest to go ride once again, a bike owned and tuned by Gary Tonglet, to earn back his professional competition license #309 back in stunning fashion easily eclipsing the E.T. & M.P.H. mark, as well as cutting .001 & .002 lights. Crew Chief Tonglet could not believe he has been off the bike for a month let alone several years. Vanetti feels he’s back more determined than ever.
